Have you ever rung your service provider to report a fault or to book a telephone engineer for telecom work in your home or business, only to be quoted a very high rate? The reason for this is because Openreach (formally BT engineering department) have the contract to look after the telephone line network within the UK, they are obliged to fix any faults on the external network on behalf of your Service Provider but if the fault lies within your property it is deemed to be out of their remit and therefore the customer will pick up the bill.

I am a one man sole trader, therefore my operating costs are comparatively lower compared to Service Provider Engineers.
